Minisink Chapter NSDAR
Goshen, New York

Each year the Minisink Chapter selects activites for the year. Our yearly plan is to continue marking the graves of Revolutionary War soldiers of the local area. Chapter members are in the process of recording the soldiers from the area, finding, and marking their graves. This form of recognition not only acknowledges their dedication to the principals of freedom and liberty, but also helps document their final resting place for posterity. There are many gravestones that are disintegrating or are now nearly illegible, and it is our hope that the graves will not completely disappear, or become totally unreadable.

Several years ago, one of our members undertook the marking of all the Revolutionary War soldiers' graves in the Old Brick Church Cemetery, Montgomery, New York, that had not been previously recognized. Many graves had been marked by the Dutch Daughters, but there were ten that had not been identified. Several Boy Scouts worked on this project with her and achieved their Eagle Scout badges with this activity. A plaque was commissioned to commemorate these previously unrecognized men under the auspices of the Brick Church.
